Follow the latest handbag trends…
According to Vogue the latest handbag trend is small and should be carried in the hand. While this isn’t a practical choice for daywear it does add more than just a dash of glamour to an evening outfit. There are a number of exciting handbag trends currently being showcased along catwalks this season and many of the styles aren’t for the faint-hearted.
Current handbag trends for spring/summer season 2009:
-
Clashing python clutch bags – sassy and bold, these reptilian bags make a strong statement with their highly textured fabric and eye-opening colour schemes.
-
Highly decorative handbags – intricate beadwork, unusual shapes and textures – whatever goes with this trend so long as it is decorative and pretty. This style is perfect for the evening or creating an eye-catching feature to your daywear.
-
Large tote bags – comfortable to wear and great for daywear, these large handbags are the antidote to small clutches and you’ll be able to fit the entire contents of your wardrobe into one of these babies and it’ll still be comfortable to carry.
-
Metallic – don’t be scared of this style as it is more flattering than you think. Metallic shades have been seen on many of the catwalks this season and they look great with a tan.
-
Contemporary patchwork – another clashing handbag trend. Think snakeskin with colour-pop panels, leopard print with metallic patches. This handbag trend isn’t for those who are timid as it’s sassy and bold.
-
Chain strap bags – inspired by classic Chanel, forget about conventional straps, this season it’s all about the ‘chain’ shoulder strap which adds an interesting element to a plain handbag.
