6/365 new bag

I have never been a purse gal.  I honestly have been happy either sewing a bag for myself or picking one up on clearance.   I’ve never been wooed or wowed by Coach or the like.  Recently, however, I got this camera and suddenly I think I need a bag.  Admittedly, four kids, a dog, and life in general makes one think twice about leaving the camera sit around.  Then there is the fact that I plan on going to NYC and Washington D.C. this year and I know I will be wanting to take pictures.  I looked at camera bags and they really didn’t do anything for me.

I feel old.

Why do I feel old actually wanting a specific, nice looking bag?   The practical side of me says “it can keep the camera and lenses safe” and “it will be just big enough so that when you travel you can drop a wallet in and take photos of everything as you go.”  Then there is this new, unfamiliar part of me that says “Nice bag” and “ooooh, pink patent leather!”   What has happened to me?  Am I loosing grip on my twenties, wait, I am not twenty and most women in their twenties want a “real bag” as opposed to my standards.   Worse yet, is this the part of me that carried a diaper bag for 7 years straight still looking for the bag that does everything, but suddenly interested in looks as well?  I question my grip on who I was and who I am becoming, and….

and

it’s pink with brown trim and it holds everything with room for a wallet!  I think I have been converted.

My new bag is jill-e designs small camera bag in pink patent leather.  For anyone looking on info, I will do a short review.  The back has three outside pockets that snap shut and one zippered pocket built into the back side.  When you open up the top (a split zipper opens a tab crossed the entire top of the bag, helping it keep its somewhat boxy, stylish shape) you can see an ample, easy to organize interior.  Already in place are three dividers evenly spaces and placed well for my Nikon D3000 with kit lens (18-55mm) on one side and my zoom lens (55-200mm)  on the other side. It feels as though my camera has plenty of room in there, so I see no issues with a larger model fitting.  Also, there is some space with the zoom lens that could easily be utilized.

The middle section leaves plenty of room for another lens and a flash or in my case a wallet, camera manual, and the cute detachable wristlet that comes with the bag.    When you open the top of the bag, you will find three mesh pockets that help to organize the little bits and pieces.  I have an extra memory card and lens cap in one, my battery charger in another, and my USB in the last one.  I forgot to mention, not only does it have handles that are good for hands or possible shoulder, but it has a nice long strap so you could wear this across your body.  I like the option of a long strap, it leaves my hands free for taking more pictures.  Plus, did I mention it is pink and I love it?
