after spending the past couple of days sick, and further exhausted from the rigors of watching the royals and their doings, i need a trip to florida horse country.

from yesterday’s high street to central florida hokey with a 2 hour drive.  where mr. and mrs. travolta live (one of their many homes) in a fly-in community and grocery shop at the local publix.  where they spend most of their time, as the locals will tell you.  beautiful rolling hills as far as the eye can see.

it’s also where there’s a little old-fashioned amusement park.   a real down-home 1960′s relic called silver springs.  it’s teeming with ‘gators and crocs (the live ones) and glass bottom boats. and it’s a great place for outdoor concerts.  so that’s where we’ll be all day today where it will be nearly 90 under the cloudless sun.

not having had a chance to do some summer shopping yet, i had nothing for this kind of heat.

lily pulitzer launched their season a few weeks ago and i ordered a wonderful little lace dress and a pretty print dress.  but they’re a little too much for this weekend and haven’t arrived yet.

then i spent a quick hour at target last week. i picked up these two items, a little black kimono-style dress (which is longer on me than in the pic) and pewter jeweled flip flops.  and this great chico’s silver necklace i ordered online a couple weeks ago.

all these and a little black cardi to throw on over top when the need arises, like indoors where the a.c. is set on arctic, and i’ll feel good.  regarding length, every woman needs to know when it’s past time to hike it up that high.

oh, and my new dooney blue capris tote (thank goodness for online shopping!)  for all that H20, packets of moist towelettes, advil, skeeter spray, and sunblock i’ll be smuggling, er, hauling around, popping and slathering on.  everything fits in this tote.  i love it and the blue color.

so, i’ll be listening to great music and eating really bad food.  but i’ll feel chic doing it.  and i’m happy about that.  just in case i run into john and kelly.

if only i’d remembered to schedule that salon visit before this weekend!
