Clutch Me, Hold Me!

Whether your look is casual or classy, this season’s clutches are will certainly grab your attention! With an array of sun-kissed spring colors, great materials and classic shapes, the clutch is your perfect accent piece!

Finished another Japanese Shima (Stripe) Bag.

As promised earlier this is the finished bag, back and front views which show the different fabrics used for the stripes.  I love the way this bag makes up as it has two different looks depending on how the fabrics are placed.  In this one I tried to keep the lilac/pink fabrics on the front and the orange/creams on the back and I’m really pleased with the result.

I made this bag slightly shorter than the previous one,  just for a change to make them a bit different.  As a recap, for comparison, these are the two bags together.  I really love these Japanese fabrics!  A reminder of the stockists Euro Japan Links if you want any!

Thrift Store Finds

I visited my local thrift store this week, and found a couple of finds in the clothing department.  Since I am down a couple of sizes, I wanted to pick up a few items without breaking the bank.

I found this lovely top by SweetPea, a brand carried at Nordstroms, which looks very flattering on:

It looks terrific with jeans, too.  The next top I found was from the Serenade brand:

Again, this is very flattering on- even better since it only  cost me $1.50 each due to a half off sale.  LOL

I also found a book for my DH by a favorite author; and also a retro pyrex dish.  All in all, a good day!

I love hunting for items at the thrift store!  I guess it is the recycle/reuse philosophy I have, or perhaps the thrill of the hunt?   Any others who feel the same way as me?  I know you are out there!  LOL

By the way, the thrift store is also a perfect place for craft supplies.  One of my favorite projects I did involved buying a couple of those long “teacher” dresses that were in style about 15 years ago  and cut them into strips of fabric.  I then crocheted them into a large bag or purse.  Of course, I have a tutorial for that here.  You could also wrap the fabric around cording and make a fabric bowl for your home or perhaps a rag rug.  The ideas are endless!!

Enjoy your day!!  Carla

Coach Purses – Outlet Prices

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The quest of many a fashionista is to find cheap coach purses. Many turn to so-called Coach Outlet stores on the internet to try to find a great deal on one of these hot bags. The old saying “if it looks to good to be true, it likely is” should apply here. If you’re searching for the perfect Coach purse and you find one for less than $100, beware. Coach purses, even at discount prices should cost over $150. Any less and you should be a bit suspicious.

Coach Purses are sought after around the world by rich and famous women who clearly have good taste. Because Coach handbags are made of the best materials available and with the latest designs, this makes Coach Purses a great buy.

Durability is also an important reason why Coach Handbags have made such an impact on the fashion scene. These bags are great and if you plan to keep them for a long time, you can feel secure knowing that they have a lifetime warranty and also are built with materials that will last.

Looking into the future of a Coach handbag is also fascinating. Because vintage handbags are all the rage today, imagine just how much your Coach purse will be worth in 20 or 30 years if kept in good condition. At this point it hard to speculate, but it is quite possible that your Coach handbag will be worth significantly more in the future.

If you’re wondering how it is that online retailers can sell Coach handbags at warehouse price, here’s the scoop. Selling online is very inexpensive for a retailer because they don’t have to pay for a building and usually have no employees. Because of these low overhead costs, they’re able pass on the savings to the customer.

Before purchasing a Coach handbag at an outlet price, make sure that you ask the seller a few questions to determine the authenticity of the handbag. There are a lot of fake coach handbags that could easily pass for an authentic coach handbag, and if you don’t mind knowing that it’s not real, you could always settle for a fake for less than $100.

Baguio Flower Festival and Cute Purses

The most exciting week of the month-long Baguio Flower Festival had begun. I was out last night with two of my former classmates way back in high school. Unlike most of the tourists, we decided to simply watch a movie at a local mall then we went for coffee (most Baguio residents stay at home to avoid walking from town, unless they have some business to manage in town).

Instead of taking pictures of us, I took a picture of their coin purses. I find it amusing that after all these years, they seem to speak at the same wavelength.

cute purses

That was again a refreshing break. I am swamped again with work and job proposals last week!

Review – Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Hillier Hobo

Last month, I purchased the Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Hillier Hobo bag in black.  This has easily become a favorite of mine. Its style is so versatile that I can just throw my necessities inside and run out the door with it. It goes with nearly every outfit and it is the perfect size.

It comes in a few other colors, but I thought black was best for what I needed. I wanted something that I could transition between professional day to casual night.  And the two straps are super handy. The long strap is great for the shoulder, but if you’re looking for a cross-body bag, it’s a bit short. The inside is lined with the signature cotton Marc Jacobs logo lettering print.

I definitely recommend this bag to anyone looking for an investment bag, but doesn’t want to drop a thousand dollars for a purse. The bag is $398 and available at Bloomingdales, Barneys CO-OP, Nordstrom, and other Marc by Marc Jacobs retailers. It comes in black, red, blue, brown, and gray.

If you want an oversized version of the bag, it’s available for an extra $100. It comes in “Raw Sugar” and “Newsprint.”  The newsprint colored bag was featured in the movie Valentine’s Day, worn by Jennifer Garner’s character.

Her sweater is also Marc by Marc Jacobs!

Have fun shopping!

Addicted to Vera Bradley Purses? Take This Quiz to Find Out!

Answer these ten simple questions with a yes or no. Keep track of your answers, then find out below if you are, in fact, a Vera Bradley addict.

1. Does your purse match your wallet, and does it also coordinate with your cosmetic bag and suitcase? If only your husband would consent, would your bedroom duvet and living room rug also match your purse?

2. Think about the phrase: “Your purse looks like a granny bag!” — Are you insulted by this phrase? Are these fighting words?

3. Although you may be reluctant to admit it, do you write letters on a regular basis to the Vera Bradley company with product ideas, with the hope that if their product development department likes your ideas, they will send you free samples!

4. Can you recognize and name all the Vera Bradley fabrics, both new and not-so-new, and because of this, can you spot a knockoff from a mile away?

5. Do you plan your vacation to coincide with the dates of the annual outlet sale?

6. Have you signed up for a Kaboodle account with the intention of keeping track of the Christmas lists for your kids, but instead have about ten Vera Bradley lists – items you own, the styles you want, the sites you like to visit – need I go on…

7. Does your purse have a pocket for just about everything – there’s a pocket for your keys, another one for your sunglasses, a pocket for your cell phone, and four other pockets that I won’t even mention?

8. Does your husband no longer buy you flowers and expensive jewelry for gifts? Instead, is he one of the few men shopping on Etsy, buying you handmade earrings and necklaces made with your favorite Vera Bradley fabrics?

9. Did you give up stamp collecting to start a purse collection?

10. Your husband told you to invest your family’s 2008 tax rebate check in a good company. You invested it in Vera Bradley. Is your investment currently in your trunk or closet?

Now, for the moment of truth…

If you answered “no” to all the above questions, why did you take this quiz in the first place!

If you have 1-2 “yes” answers, you’re not addicted yet. However, the warning signs are there.

If you answered “yes” to three or more of these questions, it’s very likely that you are indeed addicted. You can either seek out professional help, or as I like to do, engage in shopping therapy by tracking down some great Vera Bradley bargains online.
